Order Acoustic Panels for Alcoves in Southfields
Two alcoves can look like a single feature in a room photograph but behave like two separate jobs when you buy panels. For a Southfields project, measure each recess independently and decide which surfaces will receive slats. An area-only estimate can miss the cost of keeping the layout tidy on both sides.
Give each recess its own measurements
Label the left and right alcoves on a sketch. Take widths at the bottom, middle and top of each proposed panelled surface; record height separately. Add shelves, cupboards, skirting and socket positions. Do not assume matching recesses are identical or that the visible back wall is perfectly rectangular.
Distinguish the back face from any side returns. A narrow return needs its own material allocation and edge treatment. If you are only buying for the rear faces, make that explicit in the enquiry.
A worked example: 88cm and 104cm
Suppose both rear faces need 220cm of height, with widths of 88cm and 104cm. For boards 60cm wide and 240cm long, each alcove can be planned as one full-width board plus one trimmed-width board. Under that layout, you would budget four boards before considering additional spares.
Combining the surfaces gives 4.224 square metres. Dividing by 1.44 square metres per board would round to only three, but that calculation does not preserve the proposed two-piece arrangement within each recess. A different cut design might reuse material; it needs to be drawn out, not assumed.
Decide where joins and leftovers belong
Tell your fitter whether a narrow strip at the outer edge is acceptable or whether the slat arrangement should appear centred. These choices affect which offcuts remain usable. Keep a labelled cut list showing the destination of every piece, including any section above a cupboard.
Do not deduct shelving openings automatically. Depending on their position, they may produce fragments that cannot replace a full-length strip elsewhere. Treat spare material as available only after checking its actual dimensions and orientation.
Choose one consistent product specification
Browse the acoustic panel range and keep the same selected finish and format across the two recesses when a coordinated appearance is intended. The Walnut listing is one 240cm by 60cm option for the example above; confirm its live selection before building the basket.
Get the alcove order checked
Send us the two labelled drawings with your Southfields postcode, chosen product and whether side returns are included. Ask for a quantity review against your proposed joins. That makes the enquiry useful for purchasing, without confusing the material estimate with a quote for installation labour.
