Acoustic Panel Cost in the UK: What You’ll Really Pay

Acoustic panels in the UK cost from about £15/m² for basic foam to around £180/m² for timber veneer, and slatted wood-effect panels for homes and restaurants usually sit between those extremes. At The Panel & Paper Company, our acoustic wall panels start at £22.99 per panel, and our main range is £29.99 per panel. The real bill depends on how many panels your wall needs, what you pay to fit them, and whether panels are even the right fix for your noise problem.
TL;DR
- Supply prices run from roughly £15/m² (foam) to £180/m² (timber veneer), according to UK 2024 rate guidance. Per-panel prices are easier to compare.
- Our panels cost £22.99 each (Ultra Low Cost range) or £29.99 each (Black Oak, Dark Oak, Grey, Walnut and White Oak).
- Professional fitting typically adds 30 to 50% to the supply cost. Fitting them yourself removes that line entirely.
- Panels improve how a room sounds. They do not stop noise passing to the neighbours, which costs far more.
- Order a £3.00 sample first so you can check colour and finish on your own wall.

What acoustic panels cost in the UK
The honest answer is a range, because “acoustic panel” covers very different products. UK supply costs quoted for 2024 break down roughly like this, according to AcousPlan’s rate guide:
| Panel type | Typical supply cost |
|---|---|
| Foam tiles | £15–30/m² |
| PET panels | £25–45/m² |
| Fabric-wrapped mineral wool | £40–100/m² |
| Timber veneer | £100–180/m² |
These are supply-only figures. Prices move, so treat them as a guide to where a quote sits, not as a fixed tariff.
Most homeowners, restaurant owners and designers choosing a decorative wall are looking at slatted wood-effect panels, which are sold per panel rather than per square metre. That is where the figures below come in.

Why the price per panel beats the price per m²
A per-m² figure hides how much wall one panel actually covers, and it makes cheap and premium products look closer than they are. When you compare any two suppliers, divide the price by the panel’s real coverage in m², then add trims and delivery. A low headline price with expensive end trims can cost more than a slightly dearer panel that includes what you need.
How to work out the cost for your wall or room
The maths is simple. Measure, decide how much of the wall to cover, divide by one panel’s coverage, then multiply by the price.
- Measure the wall. Multiply width by height in metres. A 4 m wide, 2.4 m high wall is 9.6 m².
- Decide how much to cover. A full feature wall means covering all of it. For echo control, many people cover only part of a wall, or one wall of the room, and leave gaps or breaks for windows, sockets and radiators.
- Check the panel’s coverage. The size is on each product page. Divide the area you want to cover by that figure and round up.
- Multiply by the price. Add trims, adhesive or fixings, and delivery.
- Add about 5 to 10% spare for cuts around sockets and awkward corners. Offcuts are rarely reusable on the next run.
A worked example
Say your measurements work out at 10 panels for a feature wall in a living room or restaurant booth area:
- 10 Ultra Low Cost panels at £22.99 = £229.90
- 10 panels from our £29.99 range = £299.90
For a smaller job of 6 panels, that is £137.94 and £179.94 respectively. Add a few £3.00 samples before you commit and you have the whole supply budget for a typical single wall, well under what a professional soundproofing job would cost.
The extra costs people forget
Fitting
Acoustic panel guidance for the UK puts professional installation at 30 to 50% on top of supply costs, depending on access, height and the wall surface. For 2026, labour-only rates for standard direct-fix wall panels are about £25–40/m², and £45–80/m² for complex or bespoke work. On the £299.90 example above, a 30 to 50% uplift means roughly £90 to £150 extra.
A tradesperson makes sense for high stairwell walls, uneven plaster, or large commercial runs. Most single walls with straight edges are within reach of a confident DIYer.
Trims, adhesive and accessories
Budget for end trims or edge finishes, adhesive or fixings, and a spirit level and saw if you do not own them. Check our wall panel accessories before you order so everything arrives together. If you want accent lighting along the slats, our LED light kits are on the same site.
Delivery
Delivery varies with order size and address, so confirm it at checkout rather than assuming it is included.
Can you fit them yourself?
Yes. Panels and acoustic curtains are generally rated as a good DIY option, unlike soundproofing, which involves rebuilding wall structure. For slatted panels you typically need:
- a tape measure, pencil and spirit level;
- a saw suitable for cutting the panel to length;
- construction adhesive and, on uneven walls, fixings as well;
- a dust mask and eye protection when cutting.
Prepare the wall first: dust-free, dry and reasonably flat. Find where sockets and switches fall before you cut, and dry-lay the first panel with a level before you stick it. If something is unclear, message us on WhatsApp with a photo of your wall and we will help.
Do panels soundproof a room?
This is the most expensive misunderstanding in the category. Acoustic panels absorb sound inside the room, which cuts echo and makes speech clearer. They do not stop noise travelling through a wall to the neighbours.

Official guidance explains why: porous materials convert sound energy into heat but do not stop sound leaving a space. Blocking transmission takes mass and isolation. If you want to understand how noise gets through glass and partitions, conference room privacy options show the same split between treating a room’s sound and stopping it escaping.
The price gap is large. UK soundproofing is quoted at £30 to £180/m² supplied and fitted, and a single party wall can run to four figures. Panels at £22.99 or £29.99 each are a different job at a different budget.
A simple rule: if your problem is a noisy, echoey room (a restaurant, open-plan kitchen, home office or living room), panels are the right and affordable tool. If your problem is the neighbour’s television, speak to an acoustic consultant or soundproofing contractor first.
Our view: where the money is best spent
We sell panels, so we see the same pattern in orders. People overspend in two ways: they buy premium material for a wall that only needs a tidy, echo-reducing finish, or they buy panels hoping to fix a neighbour problem they cannot fix.
Our approach is to keep pricing straightforward and let the finish do the work. For most living rooms, bedrooms feature walls and café or restaurant corners, a £22.99 or £29.99 slatted panel gives the warm timber look and softer sound at a price that lets you cover a whole wall. Spend more only where you need something specific, such as the flexibility of our curved-wall panels. Order samples at £3.00 each so you choose by eye, in your own lighting, not from a screen.
And if you are unsure which category your problem falls into, ask. A two-minute WhatsApp message is cheaper than a wrong order.

Choosing a finish and range for your space
- Living rooms and bedrooms: Walnut, White Oak or Grey blend with most furniture. Cover one feature wall behind the sofa or bed.
- Restaurants and cafés: Dark Oak and Black Oak add warmth under low lighting. Covering a wall near hard surfaces helps most with the clatter.
- Designers and developers: Ordering one finish across a whole block keeps batches consistent. Ask us about quantities before you place a large order.
- Curved or feature walls: Choose the Flexible Wood Wall Panels, which are built for shapes straight slats cannot follow.
- Tightest budgets: The Ultra Low Cost range starts at £22.99 per panel in Light Grey, Black and Natural Oak.

FAQ
How much does an acoustic panel cost?
It depends on the material. Foam can be as low as about £15/m², while timber veneer reaches around £180/m². Our slatted acoustic panels cost £22.99 or £29.99 each, and our wider slat panels start at £53.99 per set of 2.
How much does it cost to soundproof a room in the UK?
Soundproofing is a different job from fitting panels and is quoted at around £30 to £180/m² supplied and fitted. It uses mass and isolation to stop sound travelling between rooms. Panels only improve the sound inside a room.
Are acoustic wall panels worth it?
Yes, if your problem is echo, harsh reflections or a noisy-sounding room. They also change the look of a wall, so you get a design upgrade at the same time. They are not worth buying to block noise from next door.
Can I install acoustic panels myself?
Yes, on a reasonably flat, dry wall. You need a level, a saw, adhesive or fixings and some care around sockets. Professional fitting adds around 30 to 50% to the supply cost, so doing it yourself can save a real amount.
